Bulgaria

Bulgaria was founded in 681A.D. in the northeastern part of the Balkan Peninsula and is one of the oldest states in Europe. It joined the European Union on January 1, 2007. Bulgaria preserved an ancient culture - that of the Thracians, combining this noble legacy with a largely unblemished natural environment within a modern, thriving economy.

Bulgaria has always been a vacation destination with traditions in the seaside and mountain tourism. Recently, our country has become a popular vacation place for tourists from Greece, the UK, Ireland and Japan. Many choose Bulgaria as their permanent residency drawn by the serenity of its natural beauty, the unique flora and fauna, the taste of the locally grown fruits and vegetables and the one-of-a-kind yogurt whose qualities arise from the unique Lactobacillus bulgaricus culture strains (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactobacillus_bulgaricus). In Bulgaria, one can find the conveniences of modern life, the beauty and mysticism of ancient culture and the warmth of human interactions.

Amidst impressive surroundings, the climate of Bulgaria offers seasonal opportunities for sports activities, tourism and vacation. The expansive Black Sea coast has an array of accommodations -- from secluded beaches to modern resorts. The mountains in Bulgaria -- under the auspices of UNESCO -- are ideal for year-round tourism. While skiing and hiking, one can enjoy views of impressive waterfalls, mountain passes and beautiful lakes. A vibrant archeological scene attracts the attention of tourists interested in ancient civilizations.
